Vamplit Publishing Discusses “Torture Films”

January 17, 2012

Events & Promotions

Each Wednesday, genre fiction publisher Vamplit Publishing hosts an interactive, Twitter-based chat on a topic relevant to the horror/suspense/thriller genre.  Prior topics have included “Vicious Vampires”, “Witches”, “Horror Movie Makeup”, and the Master of Suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock.

This week (beginning at midnight GMT), Vamplit authors, fans and friends will discuss what’s become an undeniable staple of modern horror — the “Torture Film”.  This controversial sub-genre, frequently referred to as “Torture Porn” by its detractors, never fails to inspire a reaction; everyone seems to have an opinion.  Whether you’re a fan or not, it’s impossible to deny the impact of the SAW franchise, for example, on the genre.

For more information on how to join the #humpday #horrorchat discussion, please visit Vamplit’s official blog and be sure to follow them on Twitter at @vamplit.
